Life is Good

I was thrilled to see a two page sketch this week at Scrapbook Steals! I recently printed some amazing photos of my brother and his family and realized they fit this week's sketch challenge perfectly!

I decided to go for a black/cream/kraft color scheme, combining papers from Simple Stories Documented and Pebbles Walnut Grove. I had to add some pops of color, and was totally inspired by the red and teal embellishments in the Pebbles collection.  I added some crochet trim from October Afternoon.  This layout turned out even better than I expected and came together very quickly.  Thanks for stopping by!

Colts' Skills Camp

This weekend I snuck away to the basement to scrapbook while the guys were upstairs watching the Colts game.  I wasn't sure which photo(s) I wanted to feature for this week's Scrapbook Steals sketch challenge until I was thumbing through my pile of pictures and found photos featuring the Colts.

It brought back great memories of this past year, when Jacob had the chance to attend a camp at the Indianapolis Colts' training facility.  I'm not much of a football fan, but I love the passion that Jacob has for the game and I was super excited to give him this opportunity.  He is looking forward to going again this coming year and Caleb should be old enough to join in too.

The original sketch was for a single page, single photo layout.  I had way too many photos that I wanted to include, and this sketch was easily converted into a two page spread.  I was hard pressed for embellishments on this page, since I only had a few football stickers.  I decided to add my own "football play" but had no idea how to actually draw one of these.  I just copied one from Google Images and later asked my husband if that looked like an actual play.  I must say that it's my favorite feature of this page.  Thanks for looking!

Back in the Saddle

In the midst of all of the holiday hubbub, I forgot to post the page I made for the Jade series.  This layout took three days to complete, although I only worked on it 10-15 minutes each day.  Between preparing for Christmas, hosting family gatherings, and traveling to visit relatives, we had a few very busy weeks.  But now things are slowly returning to normal, the tree is down, decorations stashed away until next year, and I've gone back to work.  Even though I had 11 days off work, this layout is the only one I managed to complete.
To see the original sketch and to get details about the challenge, check out the Scrapbook Steals blog.

I'm sad to say that this is my last post as a member of the Scrapbook Steals design team.  I've thoroughly enjoyed my three months and I'm sad to see it come to an end.  Today, the featured steal is Lifestyle Crafts It Kits, perfect for cardmakers and paper crafters.  Here's a sneak peek at what you'll see...

You'll have to visit the Scrapbook Steals blog to see what I created with this product! Check it out HERE!

Buddies

This week's sketch challenge at Scrapbook Steals gave me another excuse to use some of my favorite "boy" papers from Simple Stories' Awesome collection.  I used one 4x6 photo instead of the two smaller photos in the original sketch.  My spray ink got a little carried away, but I only had one piece of this great background paper, so I was forced to leave it this way.

1st day of school

It's time for a new sketch series at Scrapbook Steals!  To find out more about this week's challenge and to see the original sketch that inspired my layout, head over to the Scrapbook Steals blog
I knew I wanted to use this back to school photo, so I dug out a bunch of papers with back to school themes. Unfortunately, none of them worked with the colors in my photo, so I got creative.  I dug wound up using various pieces/patterns from 4 different Echo Park collections, and only used one school sticker from an old Simple Stories line.  The colors worked well and I actually like that it's not all "school crazy" in theme.  Thanks for looking!

Completely Coral

I've completed another group of 10 sketches in the gemstone series at Scrapbook Steals.  They are giving away a great prize package from My Mind's Eye, one of my favorite manufacturers.  Here are the 10 layouts from this Coral series:
